Nutrition
You are which you eat! This sentence is applied also to our horses. Analogously to the natural stand, our feeding looks accordingly. The needs of a broodmare are very differently to those of a riding horse. To be able to feed during the in foal time after the actual needs, we work with ration calculations. Here, manufacturer independent software goes into action that grasps the nutritional values of the feed, minerals and vitamins and shows us an over or sub cares, on which can be reacted immediately. We avoid the feeding of pellets if possible since the quality of the reason feed is unknown.
Hay
The intestine of the horse has specialized in the course of the evolution to win energy and vitamins from arid steppe grass by splitting the nutrition. For this reason, we have decided in favour to feed hay. Silage can cause in case of the lactic acid an imbalance of the intestine bacteria. The results can be a disturbed indigestion, or also to the depositing of water in the excrements. Some people who practise natural medicine in Germany also suspect furthermore hyperacidity in the body, muscle problems and premature arthrose caused by feeding Silage. Sometimes if is not fermented enough there is a higher risk at sick making germinations.
Concentrates
We feed oats, barley and natural muesli. The quantity follows the individual demand of the mare.
Minerals
We also feed special horse minerals which are adapted to our hay, oats and barley feeding. They also contain several vitamins, iodine, selen, manganese and biotin.
Additional feed
To support the metabolism of our mares they get for 3 months in the year beer yeast. Besides many amino acids it contains also that vitamin B complex for skin and hair, just as selen, what is important for the fertility. Before the fur change, enzyme grain is fed which supports the intestine function with its high enzyme portion. During the lacteal time, we give soy shot to the mares. In order to have variations in the food plan in winter carrots and sometimes apples are fed.
Additionally
Our foals were born approximately end of March until April. 4 weeks before they are born we feed high measured ß-Carotin in powder form to the mares. This initial stage of the vitamin A what the mare normally finds in the nature is located in fresh grass, when she bears her foal in May or June. ß-Carotin improves the mare milk and promotes the growth of the foal. The foals are immediately provided after their birth with Haemolytan, in the further life months with Megabase Junior, specials syrups to prevent lacks and stabilize cartilages and skeleton. Breeding means high performance - our mares are slim like sport horses, because minerals and vitamins don't do thickly.
Corn
We strictly do not feed corn. We do not like horses, which are inflated, like popcorn. Furthermore, corn contains a very high strength share that increases a lot of hoof illnesses.
